    Hi Howie,

I know that I'm late, but would it be possible to use dynamically produced images in the weathermap, meaning that in the ./images directory can also be .php files which produce images.
I wrote a _simple_ analog watch (could be distributed) which I would like to place on the weathermap. This clock is so big (configurable), that if a whole series of weathermap-images is reduce to thumbnail size (and animated) the time can still be recognized.
The whole idea is to have the current image in full-size and the last hour (and the last day, week, whatever you like) as a thumbnail-movie (animated gif) at the side of the current image.

And: it would be nice to be able to move the labels of a link not only back and forth but also sideways. It would also be nice if the format of the numbers could be chosen, e.g. only whole numbers (5k instead of 5.4k) using some kind of printf function/formatting rule.

Well, the first one is a little specific, but maybe there's something to be done. I've done similar things in that past using either a wrapper or a second cron job to generate the other images... things that run other things open up all kinds of security issues too.

The number formatting thing is planned for 0.94 - BWLABELFORMAT. It will work just like LABEL, so that you can use odd units or whatever you like in BWLABELs.

Moving them sideways without moving the link? You have a use case?

O.k. I can do with a further cron job which generates the correct images.

The use case for the moving of the labels is the following: I have a whole row of routers. Two of them are paired for redundancy purposes. The adjacent nodes have to be placed quite close which leads to the fact that the connection is very short. The label of the link now covers almost the whole link and so the colors are not visible any more. With movable labels, the topology of the paired links could easily be depicted and the labels could be placed just next to the link, still allowing to see the link.

Some aggregation features in the editor should be very nice :)

But it is already a great product Howie, keep up the good work!

Can you explain a little more? You can add multiple targets in the editor right now (just seperate with a space, same as in the text file). Or do you mean so that the picker will append them? What should the overlib/infourl show in that situation? (it's not hard to add the 'append' functionality)

ability to display the host cpu usage by changing the colour of the node according to percentage used, or/and ping latency again changing the colour according to response times.. great script though :)

You can do all those things, if the data is available in RRD files, with 0.9. If the data is stored somewhere else, you might need to write a DS plugin, but even then it's available now :-)

It is described in the Cacti State article in the Articles section, kind of, but I'll try and write up something more.

My main problem is trying to fit a large volume of information about each interface on a diagram. This would be easier if percentages could be written inside lines rather than across them (given a wide enough line, of course). Or even if it were simply possibly to specify a format for percentage numbers, in my case no decimal places.

The second part (formatting) is coming - mainly because I want to be able to map milliseconds.

The first part can be done right now though. With 0.92, you can use angled bwlabels, with no background and no outline to get the effect you are talking about. You must use truetype fonts for the bwlabel if you do this. There's an example picture here: http://www.network-weathermap.com/node/78

You might also want to consider the NOTES keyword, if all the information doesn't need to be visible all the time...

Would like to be able to add menus to nodes, IE, popup (or click, I am not picky!) and get a navigation menu to, for instance, connect to the node, go to the cacti tree, or the nagios tree, or nedi, or whatever...

The editor improvments I have lined up are pretty much a complete rewrite. The new editor (which I've started) uses "web 2.0" stuff to make nodes, scales and vias directly draggable, and links (sort of) directly curvable - drag away from a point on the curve to move the curve to pass through where you stop dragging.

Because the link and node images must be drawn on the server, there is a slightly odd delay after moving a node before all the links around it snap into place, but it's pretty useful still.

So far, I have a file-picker and a page that will draw a map correctly out of components, so it's early days, but I think it's all possible.
